Member Application

KYA is a youth work charity and we promote and support organisations who deliver youth activities that align with 4 key youth work principles:

  1. Active participation & empowerment of young people
  2. Anti-discriminatory & inclusive practice
  3. Voluntary participation of young people
  4. Informal & non-formal education

Our Vision is for a vibrant community youth sector across Kirklees. Anyone who wants to further the cause of KYA can become a member.

We have 4 categories of Membership:

  1. Delivery Organisations – VCSE (voluntary, community & social enterprise) sector organisations delivering activities or opportunities to young people aged 8-17 (24 with SEND and other vulnerabilities) in the Kirklees area. The aim of the activities must be the social, personal or educational development of young people.
  2. Suppliers – organisations or companies who have skills or products that can help or enhance the work of our Delivery Organisations e.g. training providers, creative practitioners, community food workers etc.
  3. Partners – Local charities or social enterprises offering support or advocacy services for young people in Kirklees, locally elected politicians, public sector colleagues.
  4. Business Supporters – Local businesses or entrepreneurs who want to “give something back” to their community. You might have resources or skills to donate e.g. space we could use for training, trades people that could carry out small repairs, time that you or your workforce can give, employment opportunities you want to promote/ skill shortages that you want to address
